Primer Episodio Psicótico / Primer Brote Esquizofrénico

‘‘First-episode schizophrenia’’ is a clinical and research term that often is        used to emphasize the special issues that arise when working with this        patient population. Although the incidence rate of first-episode schizo-phrenia makes this population a relatively small percentage of a usual clinicalcaseload, it is a critically important time for the future of the course of theillness. The hope is that proper management during this critical period can in-fluence favorably the long-term trajectory of illness and outcome for the indi-vidual patient.
